Ghosting happens when there’s no accountability. But a simple texting structure can filter out flakers before you get attached. This is the 5-text rule used by dating coaches.
Texts 1-2: Logistics Only
“Looking forward to Friday. 7pm at The Pour House?” – nothing else. No “how was your day” before meeting. Saves your emotional energy.
Text 3: The Hook
After the first date, wait 2 hours then send: “Tonight was fun. You’re different from your profile (in a good way).” This invites curiosity without over-praising.
Text 4: The Test
Next day: “Heads up – I’m busy tonight but text me if you want to plan something for the weekend.” You’re not asking – you’re offering a slot. If he doesn’t respond within 24 hours, you delete his number.
Text 5: The Closer
If he plans a second date, send a voice note saying “Cool, see you then.” Voice notes build intimacy faster than text. Use this sequence and you’ll waste zero time on men who were just bored.
