Long texting kills attraction. The goal isn’t to become pen pals – it’s to get face-to-face. Here’s a 5-message sequence that works.
Message 1 (Opener)
Respond to something specific in their profile. “Is that photo from Peru? I went to Cusco last year – did you make it to Machu Picchu?” – shows effort.
Message 2 (The Hook)
After their reply, add: “You seem like you’d be fun to grab a drink with. Drinks or coffee – which do you prefer?” This assumes the date will happen.
Message 3 (Logistics)
They say drinks. You reply: “Great. There’s a rooftop bar called [Name] – Thursday at 7? They have these small plates that are dangerously good.”
Message 4 (Confirmation)
They say yes. You: “Awesome. I’ll confirm day-of. And hey, if you flake, I’m eating your share of the nachos.” – light teasing builds rapport.
Message 5 (Day-Of)
“Looking forward to tonight. See you at 7 – I’ll be the one in the blue jacket.” That’s it. No “are we still on?” That signals insecurity. Trust the plan. If they ghost, they were never serious. You’ve wasted minimal time.
